National Shipping Company of Saudia Arabia
The National Shipping Corporation of Saudi Arabia (NSCSA) owns and operates ten double hulled Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) Tankers; seven VLCC tankers are under construction, each with an individual capacity of 2.1 million barrels and deadweight of more than 300,000 tons. Technically managed by its wholly owned subsidiary, Mideast Ship Management Ltd. (MSML), Dubai, the VLCCs operate in the global markets with a mixture of spot voyage and time charter employment.
The NSCSA required a powerful software package that would help eliminate the “islands of information,” provide total visibility and link business operations. The NSCSA selected Veson’s IMOS to manage chartering and operational activities for its fleet. IMOS delivered one integrated, common platform to share commercial information across various company sites, allowed the NSCSA to seamlessly integrate with MSML, and report financially and administratively to the company’s Riyadh Corporate Headquarters.
Michael Hudson-Davies, Vice President Commercial of NSCSA Dubai explains, “We are 24x7 in the tanker chartering business and are online at all hours. With Veson’s IMOS we can view and discuss calculations with our chartering staff in real time. It greatly enhances the ability to see details - the right information is there and we have the ability to look at the business from anywhere. This allows us to make quicker decisions.”
