Commodity Traders

Veson Nautical’s IMOS provides functionality to address the complexity that commodity traders face with their marine operations. IMOS can treat transport as a cost center, profit center, or combination of the two.

The key IMOS module for commodity traders is Cargo Planning. This module enables companies to store purchase and sale contracts of cargoes. It can store details of a contract of affreightment (COA) as well as individual cargoes grouped under such a contract. Cargoes entered in this module can be attached to or used to initiate a Voyage Estimate and/or a Fixture Note.

The command center of Cargo Planning features a graphical display of the cargo units with status of offer, confirmed, in-fixture or in operation (charter). It can be used to enter open cargoes available on the market. Using the cargo match function, the open cargoes can be matched to open voyages for optimal revenue generation. In this case, it is the freight value of the cargo that concerns the user – the details of the cargo are not important.

IMOS can also seamlessly integrate with third party trading systems.

Some of our clients in this area include:
Alcoa
Australian Wheat Board
ConocoPhillips
Coal and Oil Company
Dole Fresh Fruit International (Case Study)
Rio Tinto
Sonatrach Petroleum Corporation
Tate & Lyle PNC

"We tried a number of different vendor packages over a period of 18 months. In every case, we were facing an incomplete solution. None of them offered a proper accounting interface, a lay time module that worked within the complete system, or a Pooling module. Veson′ IMOS has saved us a tremendous amount of time and energy. In addition, the Veson staff has proven themselves to be adaptable by listening to the customers delivering what the customers need to improve efficiencies. It will suffice to say this is the last system we will have to buy."
