“The excellent become the permanent”
— Aristotle
Nearly thirty years ago, an early software pioneer, Michael Veson, saw an opportunity to deliver customized software solutions to the commercial maritime industry. He founded Veson Inc. and created the first automated port-to-port distance tables, used in early voyage-estimating applications. His Distance Calculation Engine is included with the Fairplay World Shipping Encyclopedia and is now used by thousands of people around the world. Over the next two decades, Michael built a base of loyal enterprise customers, trail-blazed best practices in the industry, and developed a reputation for integrity and innovation.
In 2003 Michael turned the reins of the company over to his son, John, who added “Nautical” to the name and greatly expanded the company’s services to the international maritime community. John shares his father’s high standards, passion for innovation, and dedication to solving complex problems. He has applied his industry and software expertise to completely transform the company’s product line, broaden its partner network, and build a talented team of professionals.
Today’s Veson Nautical continues to evolve and innovate to meet the changing needs of the commercial maritime industry, with its newest release of IMOS 6 and new Web services offering, Veslink. Veson Nautical’s commitment to the highest quality products and services, proactive customer service, and rewarding careers for its team members have all contributed to the company’s growth and success. In 2007, Veson Nautical was one of only three companies in New England to receive the “Peak Performance Award for Extraordinary Growth” from Citizens Bank.
