  • John D. Veson, President

    John Veson has led Veson Nautical since 2003. During his tenure the company has greatly expanded its client base, and revenues have seen double-digit organic growth year after year.

    His passion for solving complex problems, continuous innovation, and working closely with clients has become a core value for the entire organization.

    John has been associated with Veson since 1992 and was instrumental in creating the architecture for the company's flagship Integrated Maritime Operations System (IMOS).

    Prior to joining the company that was founded by his father, Michael Veson, John managed multi-million dollar consulting projects for Microsoft Corporation, including the design and implementation of a handheld trading system for Goldman Sachs and the NY Stock Exchange.

    John earned his MBA from Harvard University and holds a BA in Computer Science and Economics with honors from Brown University.

  • Eva Douzinas, Operations Director

    Eva Douzinas has been responsible for the general operations of the company as well as marketing and finance since 2003. Her commitment to good design and proactive organizational development has been key to the company's growth and success.

    Prior to joining Veson, Eva was an investment researcher at Sanford Bernstein in New York, focused on the technology sector. In this role she was responsible for analyzing technology market trends, evaluating the financial stability of key technology companies, and producing monthly reports on sector indicators. Eva also gained maritime software industry expertise at Nautical Technology Corporation, where she was involved in both marketing and customer relations.

    Eva earned her MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business in 2002 and holds a BA in Economics from Wesleyan University

  • Jamie Sheldon, IMOS Product Director

    Jamie Sheldon, IMOS Product Director since 2006, works closely with Veson's Boston-based engineering, senior management, and marketing personnel to develop, position, and market the company's flagship Integrated Maritime Operations System (IMOS) product line. He has more than 20 years' experience in software development, business formation, corporate strategy, and product marketing.

    At Centric Software, based in San Jose, CA, Jamie provided consulting services ranging from solution strategy to product line rationalization for a suite of ten products and eight industry solutions. He also co-founded and later served as Director of Product Management for Framework Technologies, based in Milwaukee, WI, and Burlington, MA.

    Jamie earned a BBA degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He also attended the MIS Professional Program at the School of Business there.

  • Evan Michaelides, Director, Veslink Development

    Evan Michaelides has joined the company as Veslink Technical Director to drive the development of its latest service. Evan has a strong background in developing software for the maritime industry, having co-founded Nautical Technology Corporation in 1984. At NTC, Evan was the chief architect of a suite of modules for managing the technical aspects of shipping organizations including machinery maintenance, purchasing & inventory, crewing and payroll. One of the key developments that differentiated NTC was its replication manager, which synchronizes data at ship and shore locations. Evan served as VP Product Development at NTC until its acquisition by ABS Nautical Systems in 1998, and then continued in the same role at ABS NS until 2007. He holds a bachelor's degree from Yale University and is a chess master.

  • Shuang Tang, Software Engineering Director

    Shuang Tang is responsible for running the ongoing research and development operations for IMOS. One of his key areas of focus includes building interfaces between the Veson IMOS system and third-party programs. Shuang leads successful technical customization and integration efforts for key clients.   

    Shuang brings more than a fifteen years of software research and development expertise to Veson Nautical. As Software Engineering Director, Shuang has been the driving force behind a number of key technical innovations at the company, including the primary development of the IMOS Operations module. Shuang also created a flexible P&L model that is still in use today.

    Shuang holds a BS in Physics from the University of Science and of Technology, China, as well as a PhD in physics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

  • Haorong Li, Professional Services Director

    Haorong Li, Professional Services Director since 2008, has more than ten years of experience implementing enterprise software solutions for operations management, supply chain optimization, planning, scheduling, and logistics.

    Haorong leads the Veson Nautical project management and implementation consulting organizations. Prior to joining Veson, Haorong was Director of Professional Services at ToolsGroup, a leading provider of Demand Driven Inventory Optimization software and solutions. Haorong also worked for i2 Technologies, based in Cambridge, MA, as Solution Architect/Project Manager.

    He holds an MS in Manufacturing Engineering and a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering, with a minor in Operations Management, both from MIT. He earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China.

  • Evangelos L. Efstathiou, Director of Commercial Marine Solutions

    Evangelos Efstathiou joined Veson Nautical in 2008 as Director of Commercial Marine Solutions. He works closely with Veson Nautical's customers to help them achieve the full scale of benefits of IMOS, with a particular focus on trading & risk management, process auditing, and management reporting. He also focuses on new business development and forming strategic alliances. Evan comes to Veson from Marsoft, a maritime risk management firm based in Boston. As Associate Partner there, he was instrumental in expanding the company's client base, developing new products, and extending market coverage of the company's software to new asset classes. Mr. Efstathiou holds an SB in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA.

  • Serge Poldi, Senior Consultant

    Serge Poldi joined Veson Nautical in 2009 as Veslink Product Director. He comes to Veson with strong communications, strategic, and operational skills that were honed over the past decade at companies including Rio Tinto, Toll Solutions, and British Petroleum.

    Serge earned an MBA from Deakin University. He holds numerous technical titles, including Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer + Internet, Cisco Certified Network Administrator, and Cisco Certified Design Administrator. He has in-depth knowledge of most programming languages and computer operating and networking systems.

Regional Offices

  • George Giovas, Southern Europe, Middle East & Africa

    George Giovas has served as Regional Director of Veson's European and Middle East Operations since 2005. He has applied his more than 20 years' experience in the shipping and engineering fields to help Veson deploy and market Veson Nautical IMOS in this region.

    Based in the company's offices in Athens, Greece, George manages regional staff and general operations activities.

    Previously, George was one of the original management team members at Nautical Technology Corporation and ABS Nautical Systems, where he participated in the design, development, and implementation of the SafeNet system for vessel management.

    George earned an MS from Rutgers University. He was awarded the Raisler Fellowship and is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Hellenic Technical Chamber.

  • Ramon Lagrand, Northern Europe

    Ramon Lagrand has been Veson's Regional Account Manager for Northern Europe since 2006.

    Working from Veson's Rotterdam office, Ramon manages client services for existing Veson customers in the area, such as Neste Oil, Vroon BV and Flinter Shipping. He also provides post-implementation support and manages ongoing requests and customizations.

    Prior to joining Veson, Ramon worked for a leading custom software design company, OWS Strategic Media Systems, based in the Netherlands.

    He holds a Masters degree in Social Science informatics from the University of Amsterdam.

  • Mark Pith, Asia Pacific

    Mark joined Veson Nautical at the beginning of 2010. His role is to facilitate the implementation process of new Veson Nautical clients as well assist existing clients with ongoing IMOS activities. Mark is also involved in the daily office activities as well as the management of regional staff.

    Mark comes to Veson Nautical with extensive business and maritime experience. He holds a Masters in Business Studies from the University of Amsterdam. During his career, he has served as an Analyst for ING Bank's Asset Based Finance-Shipping division plus experience at industry leading companies, such as Marsoft.
