  • John Veson, President

    John has served as President of Veson Nautical since 2003.

    During his tenure the company expanded its client base tenfold, and sustained double-digit profitable organic revenue growth year after year. John's passion for solving complex problems, continuous innovation, and working closely with clients is a core value for the entire organization. John has been associated with Veson since 1992 and was instrumental in creating the architecture for the company's flagship Integrated Maritime Operations System (IMOS). Prior to joining the company that was founded by his father, Michael Veson, John managed multi-million dollar consulting projects for Microsoft Corporation, including the design and implementation of a handheld trading system for Goldman Sachs and the NY Stock Exchange.

    John earned his MBA from Harvard University and holds a BA in Computer Science and Economics with honors from Brown University.

  • Eva Douzinas, Operations Director

    Eva has served as the Veson Nautical Operations Director since 2003.

    Eva's current responsibilities include oversight of Finance, Marketing, HR, Professional Services, Customer Support and Regional Offices. In that time, Veson Nautical profitably expanded to 5 offices, significantly increased headcount year over year, and received several honors including Citizens Bank's Top Small Business award, BBJ Pacesetter's award, Boston Business Journal's Best Places to Work and Inc. Magazine's Top Small Company Workplaces. Prior to joining Veson, Eva was an investment researcher at Sanford Bernstein in New York, focused on the technology sector. Eva also gained maritime software industry expertise at Nautical Technology Corporation, where she was involved in both marketing and customer relations.

    Eva earned her MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business and holds a BA in Economics from Wesleyan University.

  • Jesse DiIanni, Professional Services Director

    Jesse has served as the company's Director of Professional Services since 2011. Jesse had been originally with the company in 2007.

    Jesse is responsible for managing Veson Nautical's global professional services team and oversight of all active implementation projects. Prior to rising to his current role, Jesse served as both a Lead Project Manager for strategic clients and Program Manager for international implementations. With over 10 years project management experience managing large scale enterprise wide initiatives at John Hancock Financial and most recently, Merrill Lynch and Bank of America, Jesse has applied his knowledge to create and implement Veson Nautical's project processes and methodologies. Jesse also holds the Project Management Professional (PMP®) designation from the Project Management Institute (PMI).

    Jesse holds a BS degree in Information Technology and Finance from the University of Vermont.

  • Evangelos Efstathiou, Director, Freight Trading and Risk Solutions

    Evan has been with Veson since 2008, rising to his current role Director of Freight Trading and Risk Management Solutions in 2010.

    Evan leads the sales team and works closely with Veson Nautical's customers to help them achieve the full scale of benefits of IMOS, with a particular focus on trading & risk management, process auditing, and management reporting. He also focuses on new business development and forming strategic alliances. Evan came to Veson from Marsoft, a maritime risk management firm based in Boston. As Associate Partner there, he was instrumental in expanding the company's client base, developing new products, and extending market coverage of the company's software to new asset classes.

    Evan holds an SB in Management Science from the MIT.

  • Tomas Hozman, Commercial Director Europe

    Tomas has been Veson's European Commercial Director since January 2011.

    Based in Oslo, Tomas leads the business development efforts in Europe and the Middle East. Tomas has extensive experience in shipping software having worked for more than 10 years for ShipNet as a Regional Manager in Sales. Earlier in his career, he also worked as a shipbroker for 10 years focusing on spot and period business in the tanker industry, acting as both an owner's and charterer's broker for leading ship owners, oil companies and traders. In this role, he also had full responsibility for commercial management of a tanker fleet on behalf of a leading ship owner.

    Tomas trained as a Computer Software Engineer at Norges Høyskole for Informasjonsteknologi.

  • Haorong Li, IMOS Program Director

    Haorong has been with Veson since 2008, having served as Professional Services Director for 3 years and rising to the role of IMOS Program Director in 2011.

    Haorong is responsible for the customer driven direction of IMOS and driving the internal and external knowledge management of Veson's solutions. In this role, Haorong works closely with customers, product managers and the IMOS development team. He leverages his extensive experience with the commercial maritime industry and insight into a broad range of system usage models to design key features and platform enhancement within IMOS. Prior to Haorong's work at Veson, he spent more than ten years implementing enterprise software solutions for operations management, supply chain optimization, planning, scheduling, and logistics at the ToolsGroup and i2 Technologies

    Haorong holds an MS in Manufacturing Engineering and a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering, with a minor in Operations Management, both from MIT. He earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China.

  • Evan Michaelides, Veslink Program Director

    Evan Michaelides has served as the Veslink Program Director since 2009.

    In this role, Evan leads the technical direction of Veslink, Veson Nautical's web-based business to business network, and manages the Veslink development and QA teams. Evan has a strong background in developing software for the maritime industry, having co-founded Nautical Technology Corporation in 1984. At NTC, Evan was the chief architect of a suite of modules for managing the technical aspects of shipping organizations including machinery maintenance, purchasing & inventory, crewing and payroll. One of the key developments that differentiated NTC was its replication manager, which synchronizes data at ship and shore locations. Evan served as VP Product Development at NTC until its acquisition by ABS Nautical Systems in 1998, and then continued in the same role at ABS NS until 2007.

    Evan holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Yale University and is a chess master.

  • Jamie Sheldon, Product Director

    Jamie joined Veson Nautical in 2006, rising to his current role as Product Director in 2011 after serving for five years as Veson's IMOS Product Manager.

    In his current role, Jamie is focused on constantly improving user experience across all of Veson's products including, IMOS and Veslink and well as expanding strategic feature development and partnerships. Jamie has more than 20 years' experience in software development, business formation, corporate strategy, and product marketing having founded 2 software companies and serving as Director of Product Management for Framework Technologies.

    Jamie earned a BBA degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He also attended the MIS Professional Program at the School of Business there.

  • Sarah Taffee, Director of Organization Effectiveness and HR

    Sarah joined Veson Nautical in 2008, rising to her role as Director of Organization Effectiveness and HR from HR manager in 2011.

    In her capacity, she leads recruiting, benefits, employee relations, organization development, performance management and employee engagement and development. In this time, Veson was honored with both the BBJ Best Places to Work and Inc. Magazine's Top Winning Workplaces awards. Prior to joining Veson Nautical, Sarah built her career over 10 years in biotechnology most recently serving as a Senior Associate in Learning and Development at Guidant Corporation. She is certified in several leadership development and skills programs from BlessingWhite, Partners in Leadership, Development Dimensions International (DDI), and Wilson Social Styles and is a qualified MBTI practitioner.

    Sarah holds a M.Ed. in Human Resource Development from the University of Minnesota, a M.A. in English from St. Thomas University and a B.A. in Writing from Concordia College.

Regional Offices

  • John Carver, Singapore

    John joined Veson Nautical in 2011 and serves as the Regional Director, Asia-Pacific.

    Based in Singapore, John is responsible for ensuring effective management and execution of client projects and relationships, office administration, and assisting with business development in the region. John comes to Veson from Oracle and Sun Microsystems, where he spent more than 7 years growing the Greater China presence. He has successfully grown regional offices in Asia for several companies and has lived and worked in Hong Kong for many years. John is also a certified PMP®/PRINCE2 Practitioner and accustomed to working with executive stakeholders, customers, PMO functions and large global teams in multiple disciplines.

    John holds a BS from San Diego State.

  • George Giovas, Athens, Greece

    George has served as Regional Director of Veson's European and Middle East Operations since 2005.

    Based in Athens, Greece, George manages a team of project managers and application consultant to help Veson deploy and market Veson Nautical solutions in this region. In addition to his role as regional director, George contributes to product design and business process evaluation leveraging his more than 20 years' experience in the shipping and engineering fields. Earlier in his career, George was one of the original management team members at Nautical Technology Corporation and ABS Nautical Systems, where he participated in the design, development, and implementation of the SafeNet system for vessel management.

    George earned an MS from Rutgers University. He was awarded the Raisler Fellowship and is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Hellenic Technical Chamber.

  • Ramon Lagrand, Rotterdam, the Netherlands

    Ramon Lagrand joined Veson Nautical in 2006, rising to the role of Regional Manager for Northern Europe in 2010.

    Based in Rotterdam, Ramon's office manages the client support team for all of Europe. Ramon has extensive experience leading key client engagements with clients such as Neste Oil, Torm, Vroon and Flinter Shipping. In addition to his work with new client implementations, Ramon also assists in business development in the region. Prior to joining Veson, Ramon worked for a leading custom software design company, OWS Strategic Media Systems, based in the Netherlands.

    Ramon holds a Master's degree in Social Science informatics from the University of Amsterdam.

  • Tone Ekman, Oslo, Norway

    Tone Ekman joined Veson Nautical in January, 2011 and serves as the Regional Manager for Scandinavia.

    Based in Oslo, Tone's team manages many of Veson Nautical's largest accounts as well as sales for all of Europe. Tone leads key engagements with clients such as J. Lauritzen and Norden. She also is a key contributor to the strategic direction of Veson's Professional Services and Product management teams. Prior to joining Veson, Tone spent more than 10 years at ShipNet working with Commercial marine clients. Earlier in her career, she developed her expertise in commercial shipping working as chartering manager for over ten years.

    Tone was trained as a Radio Officer at Oslo Sjøømannsskole (Oslo Nautical College).
