Operations

Visualize, Monitor, and Manage Fleet Operations

From fleet scheduling to voyage management, Operations provides a graphical interface that helps you visualize, monitor, and simplify your entire operation.

Managers can quickly access schedules, view voyage details, evaluate choices, and make more informed decisions in a constantly changing environment. Operations can interface with external systems to automate entry of position reports, bunker inquiries and purchases, disbursements, and other data so organizations can benefit from eliminating duplicate manual entry, improved data quality, and increased operator productivity. The module is fully integrated with other IMOS modules, including Chartering, Demurrage, Financials, and Trading.

Operations

Fleet/Vessel Schedule

The Vessel Schedule serves as a front end to the Operations module for accessing and updating vessel and voyage information-as well as for producing invoices and reports. This graphical interface displays the voyages of each vessel on a scrolling, zoomable timeline. Color-coded bars for each vessel indicate the identification number of the scheduled, commenced, and completed voyages and provide a complete, vivid picture of the fleet status. The Vessel Schedule provides access to many fleet-wide functions, such as the Voyage Manager, Time Charter information, and numerous analytical reports. The schedule view may be filtered by user-defined vessel types and other groupings.

Port Schedule

Similar to the Fleet Schedule, the Port Schedule allows users to monitor vessel positions, ETAs, and ETDs by port. Functionality is also available to monitor FOB/Delivered cargoes whose marine transportation is managed by third parties.

The Voyage Manager

The Voyage Manager displays the current voyage itinerary and provides access to all voyage-related functions on a single form. A summary tree allows users to view and access all associated reports, documents, revenues, and expenses at a glance. At any time during the voyage progress, the user may create and print a Voyage Profit and Loss report to show the original estimate, current actuals, and the difference between the two. This report enables operations management to monitor current voyage results and take action while there is time to act.

Voyage Manager Functions:

  • Freight and Commission Invoicing
  • Cargo Handling
  • Bunker Inquiries and Purchases
  • Laytime Calculation
  • Comparison to Charter Party terms, Fixture Note, and Time Charter details
  • Daily Noon reports
  • Port Activity Details and Statement of Facts
  • Port Disbursements
  • Operational Performance Analysis
  • Voyage Profit/Loss Report
  • 3rd-party file attachments

Time Charter-In/Out

This submodule manages Time Charter contracts from delivery to redelivery. It sets up the time charter control information and records the Time Charter party terms, hire schedule, options, and warranties. The system interactively prepares a Time Charter hire payment/receipt schedule as well as creates, checks, and prints invoices. The information is then forwarded to Financials for posting. At redelivery, the system prepares the Final Hire Statement.

Port Cost Management

This submodule manages all port expenses, from receiving a pro forma invoice from the agency to processing, and posting disbursements to Financials. Disbursements are entered here and compared to original Estimates for performance monitoring. The submodule has the ability to link to providers such as DA Desk for automatic entry of disbursements.

Bunker Management

Bunker Management projects bunker consumption and arrival/departure ROB levels for each scheduled voyage. It also contains functionality for competitive bidding for bunker purchasing, bunker consumption report generation, and budget projections.

Laytime Calculations

The laytime submodule inherits port activity information from the Vessel Operations monitoring system and laytime terms from the Fixture Note. It then calculates and prepares the demurrage/dispatch statements.
