Planning

Test Assumptions, Optimize Results

This module delivers strategic planning tools, which are based on Veson Nautical’s propriety and highly visual environment.  A unified interface integrates visual and quantitative analysis and allows executives, managers, charterers, operators, and schedulers to test, analyze, and modify assumptions about existing or proposed contracts, voyages, vessels, and fleets.

Currently, two IMOS Planning tools are available — Cargo Matching and Job Planning.

Planning

Business Benefits

  • Unified planning and execution environment
  • Integrates visual overview with quantitative analysis
  • Fully integrated with existing IMOS modules and features
  • Provides a drag-and-drop interface for evaluating cargo and vessel scheduling alternatives
  • Understand the impact of each decision on total scenario profitability and resource utilization
  • Understand decision impact from multiple perspectives: time, utilization, cost, and side effects
  • Simple end-user configurability supports individual chartering styles and decision-making criteria
  • Quickly define programs to support multi-user and multi-program environments

Cargo Matching

Cargo Matching has dramatically improved productivity and performance for our clients. Developed and fine-tuned over a four-year period with input from some of the world's leading commercial marine schedulers and charterers, this innovative tool matches cargoes to ships with drag-and-drop convenience, generating a pro forma vessel schedule and P&L. The Cargo Matching tool is tightly integrated with the position book and all the IMOS modules. Cargoes can be drawn from a COA contract stored in the database.

A graphical schedule displays open cargoes in chronological order, by loading port, or in another sort order.  Cargo bars indicate quantity and status. Users can access cargo details with a simple click on the graph. And they can assign a vessel to make a Voyage Estimate or produce a Fixture Note. The system will propose optimal cargo-vessel combinations and also allow the user to drag and drop cargoes to test various scenarios.

Highlights:

  • Simultaneously grasp the big picture and underlying details
  • Provides a visual drag-and-drop interface for evaluating cargo and vessel scheduling alternatives
  • Understand net income, bunker expenses, voyage expenses, idle days, and voyage days
  • Plan multiple voyages simultaneously across a set of vessels or cargoes
  • Define Programs to organize planning by Trade-Aarea, charterer, Cargo Group, ports, line of business, division of labor, and other business characteristics
  • Best vessel feature suggests schedule options based availability, ability to make laycans, distance, and utilitization
  • Plan spot and contract cargo voyages
  • Quickly test alternative decisions to optimize cargo assignments and vessel utilization
  • Understand the impact of each decision on total scenario profitability and resource utilization
  • Understand decision impact from multiple perspectives: time, utilization, cost, and side effects
  • Simple end-user configurability supports individual chartering styles and decision-making criteria
  • Quickly define programs to support multi-user and multi-program chartering environments

Job Planning

Veson has applied a similar model of Gantt / Grid visual planning to offshore fleet management. Job Planning is used to plan and operate a fleet of offshore vessels where operators need to quickly adjust schedules to meet changing situations.

Highlights:

  • Capture job contracts and master contracts
  • Use drag and drop to test vessel assignments and evaluate decision scenarios
  • Understand net income, bunker expenses, voyage expenses, idle days, and voyage days
  • React quickly to changing conditions
  • Streamline financial management and billing
  • Enhance job profitability and fleet utilization
  • Manage jobs from contract to invoice
  • Identify the best vessel assignments
  • Understand all aspects of a scenario
